“La Grée,” written by Marius Jousset, performed by Marius Jousset (on a mandolin by Jiri Lebeda, a Czech luthier) and Franck Jousset (on a guitar by Benjamin Dietlin, a French luthier)
Speaking about “La Grée,” Marius Jousset said:
“Before this summer, I had never really tried my hand at composing; so this is actually one of my very first compositions.
This piece is dedicated to everyone who has helped me, in their own way, to develop my musical knowledge and skills, whether they are professionals or not.
The title “La Grée” refers to the moorland south of my village, where I regularly observe and record the reptiles and birds that live there.”
“Having been fortunate enough to be born into a family of musicians, I decided to take up the mandolin at the age of 10. My main teachers were my parents and Bruno Garreau, who introduced me to the mandolin through bluegrass, Celtic music, and movie soundtracks. I’ve also had the opportunity to meet many musicians from diverse backgrounds, which has inspired me to explore new musical styles.
I’m accompanied by my father, Franck Jousset, with whom I regularly play on stage or at home.”
